transmission line hook ups

i had one of my trans lines go out (#52028674). its the line that runs from the cooler, crosses in front of the trans then goes up the otherside of the motor. when removing the old line the coupling came out with the line and i ended up twisting n snapping the line which is no problem cuz a new one was needed but what i need help with is finding the coupling piece (the hex part started to strip and dont want to reuse to avoid future problems) and i would also like to know what it is that the line is running to just for my own knowledge.

I assume you are referring to the liquid/liquid heat exchanger mounted under the turbo? Does yours have the push-in/quick-connect (QC) or flare fittings on the heat exchanger? Since you twisted and snapped the line, I'm guessing you have flare connections (you must have only used one wrench) - but please confirm. When that cooler line rubbed through on my truck (which came with the earlier QC fittings on the heat exchanger), I could only find a replacement line with a flare fitting on the heat exchanger end - so I converted that fitting on the heat exchanger from QC to flare by getting a fitting at a local hydraulic shop. If I recall correctly, the counter man at the shop said it was a -8 JIC (1/2", 37-degree flare) but I wouldn't bet the farm on it. You want to be sure you get the correct flare angle, as 37 degrees and 45 degrees aren't compatible. The NPT end is either 3/8" male NPT or 1/2" NPT - sorry, I don't remember offhand but I'm sure one of the other members can clarify (or you can measure the opening). Best thing is to take the old fitting in with you and match it up.

The cooler line that you're referring to goes to the trans cooler in front of the A/C condenser.
