Smile Trans question

Hi Guys
I have put a 1000 mile's on my new to me dodge ... all trouble free , I have noticed a little quirk ... every once in a while I get what seems to me like the 3rd gear slips or a quick down shift in and out back to 3rd .
It's a 200 rpm fluckuation when it happens .

Me being a retired wench It seems like a slip ... it has not do it in 1000 miles and it just did it tonight , I did flush the whole system and a new filter , I did adj the front band and thats fine ... like a dumb a** I forgot the rear band when I had the pan off .

Dose this sound like a band adjustment .

Thanks guys

Greg

Re: trans

I was not sure if since I am easy on the pedal ,I was thinking that I kind-a trick the trans and it kicks down for that split second ... some where around 50/55 mph ... That was the only thing I could figure .

Should I bother adjusting the rear band ...?

Thanks

Sounds like the very common TPS problem. The tranny has a lockup torque converter and if the TPS is acting up it will unlock the converter and then lock again.

Use the SEARCH function at the top of the page and search the 12 valve forum for TPS. You should find WAAAAYYY to much to read.

Most likely you need an adjustment or a new TPS - lots of interesting reading with the search!

Re:Trans

It's a new TPS and as far as the cable I really don't see any adjustment in the kick down ...is there a internal adjustment for the kick down.
Mine seems to have the adiquite amount of play in the kick down .
Thats why I was figuring maybe I just catch the trany kicking down for that split second ... it's been close to 1000 miles since I felt the abnormal feeling and I was able to just catch it on the tach ... 200 rpms if that .

Thanks for the help , I will proibly do the rear band for peace of mind ... besides that the truck is great ...I'm proibly geting close to 26mpg ...I love it .
