Tranny temp gauge install question

What is the scoop on removing the checkvalve in the cooler line? Is it in the hot or cold side cooler line? I see some posts that say to replace it with the gauge fitting and I see some posts leaving it and installing the gauge fitting elsewhere in the hot side cooler line.

I want to install my tran temp gauge sensor this weekend but want to be sure I am going about it in the right manner.

Thanks!

i know a few guys in my area that take it out altogether. better flow thru the lines and they have been known stick closed and cook a trans before as well. they just deal with the delayed gear engagement. its only on start-up and they havent had any problems. i will be running 1/2 rubber lines when i put my gauge in and im going to make a block out of some square tubing and install it inline with the sensor in it. that way im not restricting any flow thru the coolers. my hardlines are in poor shape so im gonna re-route new rubber lines
