Tranny leak-can't find it!

I've been noticing the little puddle that usually appears under my truck has been getting bigger and bigger. I've dried everything up, driven it, and tried to spot the source, but I'm having trouble nailing it down. Is there a dye or something I can use to find it? It's really worrying me.

look at the two lines that run under the transmission by the bellhousing. they like to rub together and cause splits.....I just ran into that myself.

Go ahead and fix it ASAP because it will not take long to leave you stranded. Here's a post I made about a week ago. If I recall, the line is around $50, and pretty easy to replace.

I found the culprit today. The forward passenger corner of the pan is leaking. My guess is someone pried on it and bent the pan taking it off. Where can I get a new pan that has a drain plug in it?????

I've seen these pans. And I've seen the price. Is the price justifiable??

The end result is very desirable. The price is high but other brands cost about the same.

Understood. I see I would get the advantage of the magnetic drain plug. The other advantage is more fluid capacity. But I almost feel like I'm paying the bulk of the money for a decoration. Are there other advantages? It isn't that much money, really. But I guess I just like knowing I'm paying reasonable money for whatever an item is. I'm not much of one for putting pretty things on a truck. I don't really care an awful lot about that. But functionality is worth paying for, if the price is reasonable.

Does anyone know of a stock-depth, regular-old tin pan with a drain plug in it available on the aftermarket? I have a welder and such. I suppose I could go to the boneyard and get an old oil pan, cut the plug bung out of it and weld it into my pan. I am a lazy cuss, though. I'd rather buy one done if there's one out there.

My $0.02 is that if you are going to change the fluid you should also change the filter, which means dropping the pan anyway.

If you want a deep pan check out the B&M pans. I ordered one from auto zone 130.00 bucks.

Check with your local dealer. They offer a pan through performance parts that has a drain plug. Avoid chrome as the gasket is prone to slip out. You may be able to tap on pan with light hammer to straighten pan and stop leak.
I run into this all the time from guys using impacts and overtightening bolts.

Just find a regular old stock pan, drill a hole in it, and buy a drain plug kit, and install it. Easy to do, and wont cost you much. I have a hard time buying the deep tranny pan stuff too.

I wouldnt be so sure its the pan.. I had the dipstick tube start leaking not to long ago.. It could be leaking out of the top of the case and running down the front corner of the pan. It may be worth checking..
