The dipstick tube was my first suspect. I took delivery of my truck directly from the dealership that had just replaced the torque converter. I told the previous owner when I looked at the truck there was a small spot on the pavement under the truck, and it looked like it was ATF. He said he backed the screws out that hold the pan and ran them back up just snug, and it seemed to stop it. But immediately after I got the truck I saw spots under it wherever I went. So I changed the fluid and filter, and properly installed the pan with a new gasket. It seemed like I had almost cured the problem, but there was still a tiny spot under there. Then it got progressively worse again. After drying everything off and really paying attention long enough to see where the leak was, I could see the fluid was coming from the forward, right corner of the pan. I have to think the pan is bent. I could try and straighten it out. But I'd like to have a drain plug. It could be the pan got bent when someone was trying to drain it in the first place. I don't know why Dodge didn't put a drain plug in the pan from the factory. I read it's because they wanted to encourage people to replace the filter inside when they drop the fluid. Following that logic, why didn't they put the engine oil filter in the oil pan, and not put a drain plug in it? Anyway, enough belly aching. Maybe I'll take the crow bar and pry the wallet open far enough to buy the Mag Hytec. There's definitely a new tranny in my near future anyway. I'd like to get a Goerend, but they seem hard to get in touch with, at least by email. I hear DTT trannies are also good. Maybe Suncoast, too. I'm still on the fence, but I'd prefer Goerend. Point being, I guess I shouldn't cry about a $250 pan when I'm about to put it on a $5000 tranny, huh? Sorry for the novel.
