A couple of years ago I installed a 2001.5 Dana 70 disc brake rear-end into my '95 2500. As a bonus the new rear end had a TracLok (or Powerlok--not sure which). I'm contemplating replacing the clutches and I was quoted $500 for the job--$100 for the clutches and $400 for labor. The shop is a good shop and they've worked on my truck before. Is this a job I can do myself? Anybody else had this done?

 

I just found out I have a PowerLok rear-end in my truck. Still trying to find a good source for clutches and steels. Anybody have a source? And if you've done this job before, do you have any tips? Thanks.

 

Found what I need. But do I have to pull the gear-set in order to install the clutches? Can I install the clutches with the gear set still in the case? Thanks.

 

Yes you will have to pull the axle shafts out and pull the diff carrier out with ring gear attached, I rebuilt mine a few years ago and got all my parts from Quad4x4 in Montana.
