Engine rebuild cost
Engine rebuild cost
Wondering how much one should expect to pay for a rebuild on a 12 valve? I would plan on doing the tear down and assembly. But would have a shop do the machine work. It would be mainly just to freshen it up install bigger head studs and o ring the head. Wondering what kinda of $ I should be expected to spend on parts (assume new pistons and rings) and machine work.

Is she that worn out with blowby that you need rings/pistons and bearings?
What kind of HP are you lookn at with the new setup
I'd just go for the head studs/ and orings if your lookn for more moderate ponies to use.
Only way i'd do a tear down and rebuild is try to build a 7-800hp diesel only monster
Yeah a new pump would be nice
Piers Stoopid Pump would be the bomb if your rebuilding her right.

I want to rebuild because I am getting a little blow by and I will have a new trans and would like freshen up the motor its got 171k of hard miles on it now prolly be 180k+ by the time I could get to it. Would like to get more than 400-500 hp out of it.
Jim Fulmer ran over 400k on the clock, all of which he was at 600-750+hp most of its life, thats on stock internal components. He drags it, etc...
Go over to TDR and check it out, or PM him yourself. I honestly think your wasting your money, when you could spend it on twins or a good set of injectors/turbo.
Have you measured your blowby, theres a test you can do from Cummins to determine how much is to much. Do a search on here, you'll find it somewhere.
400-500hp is easy on stock stuff, you will need head work oring studs etc.. though.
