Is this a TPS problem?

I have been experiencing some problems for awhile while running in cruise. It seems the torque converter will lock and unlock repeatedly while going down the highway. Until last night it has never done it while running without cruise.

Last night I was driving around 60 when something happen it seemed like for a split second it lost all electrical power like a bad connection. By the time I realized something happened everything was fine except the over drive off switch was activated. Is this related to my cruise problem?

Last weekend in an attempt to fix the cruise problem I check and cleaned all battery and ground connections.

The truck in a 94 stock automatic with 120,000 miles.

Thanks for any help.

The tps may be bad or you may have electrical noise in the line to it. I know DTT has some kind of line filter they install for a fix on that. You can also do the voltage check on the tps as per the factory service manual. Slotting the tabs allows you to rotate it and get the voltage within spec sometimes.
You can cut open and clean / lube the TPS, but be careful if you blow with compressed air that the contact strips are metallized tape that can blow out.

I would first look at the brake switch, when it starts locking and unlocking take your foot and pull up on the brake pedal to see if it quites. if it does then you just need to adjust the brake switch if not i would suspect tps, but more likely an RFI or electrical noise issue resulting from the alternator field wires running in the same harness as the tps signal wire to the pcm.
