TPS low voltage

Now that I have found this forum I keep finding problems. But I sure appreciate the help. On a trip yesterday about 300 miles, TC started locking and unlocking for no reason. It started gradually then got to where it would unlock and lock in seconds continually at all speeds above 50mph. I have read the problems with tps and checked the voltage it is at only 0.4DC volts at idle. WOT 3.98 volts. TPS is getting full 4.98 volts. Cable is also adjusted correctly. Is it worth knocking out the steel guides and adjusting the sensor or better to replace since it is so far out of spec? Or is it something else?

There was a good writeup on the TPS here. Try a search on it and there were photos and locations for hole. I will have to see what I can dig up..

I found and read the posts on cleaning the tps. Didn't know if it would help mine as it doesn't seem to have a "bad spot" just low voltage. Anyway here is the post if someone is looking.

I've tried cleaning them numerous times and all I can say is it was a waste of my time.
Results are too short lived.
Upon dissecting a bad TPS I found the problem to be worn windings in the area where you hold the throttle most, namely highway speed.
No amount of cleaning in the world is going to cure that.
I've had no problem with the Napa TPSs, in fact they are made by the same company as the stocker.
