total loss of power

ok so my truck was running fine yesterday morning then i got in it to come home and noticed it was smoking more than usual. (black thick smoke) I got out of town out on the highway and had no top end power. I had to floor it just to keep 65 mph, with lots of smoke. Tranny shifted like it should no slips. still when i roll i to it slowly i have lowend power with little smoke but the more fuel i give it the slower we go.

this is on the 97 in my sig

Boost issue somewhere, Turbo dead, Intercooler, boots, etc.

First place I would look, then I think the AFC could also cause it.

i still hear the turbo whistle. come to think of it i have been hearing a hissing sound frome somewhere when i really get on it prior to this problem. It is really loud and sounds real bad. comes from the driver side. I will have to check the boot when i get home.

The trick to keep boots from popping off is to spray the inside hose that slips over the pipes with cheap hairspray first.
The stuff glues them on but not so much that you can't get them off later.
