bad wiring?

Question bad wiring?

Ok I have a 96 dodge ram 3500 and I have recently lost od and lu...in the chain of events one morning my truck wouldn't start so I got out and realized my positive cable was a little loose so I wiggled it and it sparked and after that my wait to start light does not shut off anymore after the truck is started...and two days later my gf while getting out of the truck broke my toggle switch for my mystery switch...I guess when she hit it with her knee it flipped the switch on and she drove it for about a mile to a friends house and she says it tried stalling once on the way there at a stop sign but got back into it before it could die well when I got to the truck I unhooked the switch and ever since I have not had lu or od...I replaced the tps, gov pressure sensor (TRANSDUCER) the od and lu solenoids and nothing have yet to get it back please any input is appreciated!

Mystery switch? sounds like that was for manual LU and OD selection.
Try putting the wires together and see what happens.

Yeah the mystery switch is for my lu I put a new switch in after it was broke but it will only lock the converter and still no od...but if I take the switch out it will not lock up at all...

Note in the instructions here that it says on '96 the computer may have to be reprogrammed for the switch to work.

Many '96 owners have run into the same problem as you. Reprogramming is dealer only, about $75

You could completely bypass PCM for OD and converter lockup. My speedo failed and My truck was not getting the signal to shift and loc so, I Ran a new line from my Batt to sol. On My 95 Its one 3 wire connector for od and lu,so central 12v in. I ran a new Ground again directly from the Batt Neg to 2 toggle switches. 1 switch continued the ground to LU the other to OD, I enjoy full loc on demand in any gear and I can switch on OD and loc and unloc at will. Using this setup has really increased my MPG's empty, also gives great control when coasting down long grades,and of course keeps a good pace on the up side. Keep in mind that this is now a full on manual switchin process, The wires are out of the PCM loop in other words you will be doing a lot of switch flickin unless u are crusin on an open Hwy. Personally I like it this way. But If your not paying attention(like forgetting to un loc) you will stall at a stop and there is the possibility of breaking something. There are counter measures you could take to prevent that if you wanted to get creative a rig some switches on your pedal so you could only complete the circut if your foot was on it,Ect. Lots of options. If you want your PCM to re-take control you will need to make sure all conditions are met and all signals are present. (I'm guessing the wire to the PCM was Cut)
