too much smoke
too much smoke
I switched to a HTT 35/40 turbo. It ran good. I went to DD3's to better utilize the turbo increase.
Now I have way too much
fuel till about 1800 rpm. Then put your head back against the seat.
I moved the star wheel back from full on, but that didn't help.
Should I change the turbo to a bigger one [htb2] ?
Any suggestions appreciated!

Since when is too much smoke a bad thing?
you need more air to spin the bigger turbine in the turbo, which only creates more smoke when u get on it tryin to spin that turbine.. Dunno much bout the AFC, or what it is for that matter, but simple physics seemed to work for me before i read the rest of the replies....

AFC = Air Fuel Control
basicly it dictates how much boost is required to move the fuel lever arm forward...
looser = more fuel, more smoke, and more heat which spools the turbo up quicker (to a point)
tighter = less fuel, less smoke, and slower turbo spool up
if you haven't adjusted your AFC, you REALLY should!

tightening the spring tension will slow down the boost enrichment some without limiting ultimate fueling!........you should be able to find a happy medium........
The #10 plate will help as it flows less fuel than the #4 on the lower end. You can also add the heavy spring to the AFC to slow low end fueling. Adding a Valet switch will also help low end smoke. Double the amount of diesel fuel additive that you use.
