Thoughts about my 215 Pump

Guys

help me learn more about my 215 pump. All that i know about it, is that it has an AFC, a fuel plate, and a 4K GSK. I want to know, How many CC's does a stock 215 pump flow? The fuel plate, i know enough about, but has anyone ever done any research as to how many more CC's of fuel certain plates allow? Lets say a stock 215 pump flows 300 ccs, how many more will it flow with lets say a 10 plate? Im most certain that CC's are directly proportional to horsepower. IE more fuel, more power potential.

Delivery valves, what determines them as Hi flow and regular flow, id imagine its the pattern of the cut to allow for more fuel. How many more CC's do high flows flow over stock?

Reason im wonderin all this is im tryin to learn more about my pump and have some figures to sort of learn. thanks for any help guys!

Rick

the stock 215 flows about 260 cc's stock. Full cut dv's add 120 cc's or 80 cc's over 191's not sure on plates but we just had a pump flowed at diesel injection in cincinatti. with full cuts 4k springs a stock plate and 17mm of rack travel it made 450cc's with the plate out and 21mm of rack travel it makes 600 cc's however the 215 retards fuel timing internally over 17mm of rack travel. the cam is great but some of the other internals aren't a buddy has a 160 pump with a 215 cam that make over 600cc and it runs better than a 215 at 600 cc. The pump came back wit a funny note (with rack stop 17mm of travel is 450 cc with out is 21mm with 600 cc. 600 cc is way to much fuel for an hx50 to safely burn ) the charger is a hybrid based off an hx50 with a 2.6 inch inducer. at 55 psi it makes 53 pound of drive pressure and it is not near enough air for the pump with 370's and the charger that's slightly bigger than a sledpuller 66 (for reference it also drives better and can be had much cheaper pm for details)

I don't think you can on the truck. it was done on a bench the labor usually runs from 120-400 depending on the time it takes. However I rember a thread on the tdr about shimming somthing to get more rack travel on the truck but my memory is vague. so somone who is a member should do a search and post a link.

you change rack travel with the plate... but there are other things besides the plate that limit rack travel, gotta dig in there and figure it out

I didn't think that changing plug at the front of the pump did anything. When they measure rack travel when bench testing they have the plug removed which I think would allow for unrestricted movement if it was only the plug stopping the rack. Forrest is hinting at the "other" things to look at. I'm still trying to find them all myself. The plungers and barrels can be adjusted to deliver more fuel but this also requires bench calibration.

im sure there are ways of getting more travel. but the price of getting it setup on a bench is well worth it, and you will know what it is making. Im not sure some of you understand how much fuel 600 cc's is. (that's like pro stock pulling fuel level) you can make over 500 hp with 400 cc's fyi or less.
