TC Lockup Switch Usage

I am thinking about putting and a TC lockup switch in for this reason. I want to the be able to lockup in second and actually go come where when I am normally accelerating. So the question is whether using it under normal acceleration is a good idea or will it be to hard on parts when shifting gears?

Thanks Adam

It depends on how hard you are going to drive this truck with the switch on.
Under hard acceleration it is very rough on the drive train, but you have to take into consideration that I have a shift kit and line pressure set at the max.

You CAN'T have the tc locked up and shift gears on a stock tranny. It's too hard on parts. It's good to use when you're in O/D or 3rd (with O/D off) already.

hahaha i like what he said, just let off before you **** thats what i do, for about 6 months i didnt even have a switch i just had it set to lock in drive and i downshifted to 2nd when i needed it to unlock. my stock tranny with 280,000 miles and 37inch tires wont shift hard so i drive with mine locked all the time..... when the race tranny goes in... then maybe the switch will stay off : )

How did you keep your tranny alive so long, especially with those mods??

im not really sure how both my trucks still move hahaha, i change the fluid alot and i let off between shifts.... mostly because i need to or it wont shift lol. im hard on my trucks really hard, but i take care of them. my lock up is always on... best part is finding that perfect dirt parking lot and getting all the gears as your drifting then hit the lockup and just spin out hahaha.
