stock 215s are EXTREMELY stuck...
Well i finally got around to changin out my injectors on the truck
Not a hard process to do, mind you a 3/4 inch wrench is your best friend. But i hit a slump, after an hour and half of takin my time and removin all the injector lines, and little return lines and everything else, i was ready to pluck out the injectors, and the first three came out almost too easy, i was rather pleased sayin, heck this aint too bad, but the fourth one took me 15 mins just to pull out with a lug nut and a crowbar... the last two, WERE IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE... i just couldnt get comfortable enough to get them out and when i did put leverage, it wasnt quite level, so i kinda felt like the tubes on the injectors were bending. I put the truck back together with neverseeze and so forth, and decided to let it go... (for now)
I made a wise desicion to give up, currently im lookin for an injector puller of some sorts, but i called a local shop, and for 65 bucks they will do it (family price) im debating whether or not taht is the route to go. I know that they do have the tools to do it, but i also wanna say that i can and have done it myself..
What would u guys do?
Rick

Try making the injector pulling tool with a chunk of 3/4" EMT tubing cut to 1 3/8" long. I bought a EMT connector for 48 cents at lowes. It worked pretty slick and will give a nice vertical pull.

what is an emt connector?
i was thinking of using the lug nut trick again on the weekend if i were to attempt this again.... I am thinkin this.. Bare with me now im not good at this drawin stuff...
___(___)_____ <---- washer (parenthesis are injector thread)
8 8
8 8 <----- injector tube (well over injector) Is this of 3/4 tube?
8 8
8 8
where would the EMT connector go? i would assume that the lugnut deal from the truck can be used over the washer just enough to pop them out.. Im home free on four injectors i just need to pull out two...

Sorry about the EMT thing. Sometimes I forget that not everyone is an electrician EMT is a thin wall tube (conduit) used for electrical work. It is basically a piece of pipe. I tried to use a piece of 3/4" PVC pipe from work but the dog ring on the injector would not clear. If you dont have any pipe laying around just take an injector to home depot or lowes and take a look in the plumbing or electrical fittings. I also grabbed a big washer in the hardware section for 24 cents. Total cost less than $1 after tax.

Sounds like mine... My holddown nuts were seized to the injector, and when I loosened them (with a 4' breaker bar) the whole injector spun in the head and left a nice groove from the ball in the side of the injector.

I used heavywall PVC with a flat washer with a hole large enough to fit around the injector but still set on the PVC, screw the lugnut down and it'll pull the injector out just as they said above. SOOOOOOOOOOO much easier than the lugnut prybar method been there done that.
Also make sure you use some scotchbrite pad and clean out the injector wells really well so the new injectors seal!
