Talking star wheel normal position?

If you were looking down on the star wheel position, where would it be for the "factory" position? When I looked at mine today, it was so far forward, I could barely see it! Anyway, I want to reduce the fueling since I don't tow much....Where should I eyeball the normal position..? Just center it?? (my goal is to save $$$$)

The stock position varies from truck to truck but is generally in the middle.
Just turn it back, it will be very obvious if you go too far back, it will take forever to accelerate.

Mine was probably 2/3s of the way to the left, so I adjusted it pretty much all the way to the left. The starwheel itself is a fine tune adjustment compared to sliding the AFC housing.

Thanks guys....

There is one little problem, I have it 1/2 way (ceneterd) and it still appears that I have smoke upon hard accelleration. Which means to me that the original owner probably moved the fuel plate. Does that make sense, the smoke on throttle?

Yes mine really started to smoke also with the plate moved. I would say to pull of the afc housing and check to see if the plate is all the way forward or most of the way and if it is the stock plate or if it has been ground on. If its stock i would slide it about little over halfway back and try that. That is if you have a plate. I know alot of people around here that just ditch them.

Smoke on takeoff with the starwheel toward the center indicates your AFC housing needs to be slid back a little, not the fuel plate. The fuel plate does not come in to play until you build some boost (10-15 lbs I've been told).

Move the AFC housing in VERY small increments (tenths of inches) until your smoke just disappears. Then, adjust the starwheel forward until it smokes a bit, then back just a hair.

I will tweek on the plate a bit more tomorrow morning. I will just move the star wheel even more towards the cab. I really don't want any smoke, I want that fuel mileage more!

I have a 100 plate. I just looked at it tonite. Man that sure will be a different profile than the stock plate. (Straight down to a very small cure outwards) I'm worried that this plate may be a bit much for my stock t/c. Any ideas as to where to position it for good performance, NOT GREAT performance. I am excited for the acceleration, but not the loss of mileage IF I don't punch it anyway....
