Spring Tower Recall

Someone recently pointed out to me that Dodge had a recall on thier front spring towers and that my truck did not have the 'fix'. How long does Dodge honor recalls? My '94 has 160,000 miles on it and I am the second owner. Thanks

Re:Spring Tower Recall

NHTSA says that manufacturer(s) must honor recalls basically forever, if I remember correctly. This is to cover instances like yours where the owner of record doesn't do it when first notified and then a second person gets it and finds out the hard way. Probably alot of liability lawyers in there somewhere to keep them from paying if something happens after the recall notice has been sent. Check Fritz's Ram Page for recalls or go to the NHTSA page and search for the recall. I think 94s were the only ones that got recalled - they fixed them permanently from 95 - on.

A good Dealer can input your VIN into their computer and tell what recalls have and haven't been done on your truck.

They can even print up a fact sheet telling you what options it had on it from the factory.

Worth a shot, then there isn't any guessing.

phox

Re:Spring Tower Recall

I just had my 94 dodge done last year. Make sure you do it. I had a crack in mine from a 4x4 accident that involved a rock and hole and 45mph. It drove great because it was a 2or 3inch crack. they found it when they were putting on the recall. I was like oops
DM01

Mines a 1995 3500 2WD and I'm the second owner, the recall was on "coil & link" front ends mine got IFS...at 150,000+ miles the towers were cracking....BAD! The IFS towers are integral of the frame thus the ENTIRE frame was replaced.

So Mathematically speaking its a 1995/2001! Not a dime from my pocket!

It is my understanding that safety issues, thats what NHTSA does, are forever the mfg's. responsibility.

Michael
