speed sensor problems

im asking this for my brother, his 98 12 valve speed sensor on the rear is bad. he went to the dealer to source a new sensor and got a kit part number 1-05014787aa. the problem is the connector is turned 90 degrees from the old one, it wont fit down in the rear axle housing because there is ears cast into the axle on both sides of the sensor that wont allow the wires to hook up to the new sensor. has anyone ran into this problem before? his truck is a 98 12v quad cab 5 speed 4x4. thanks!

I've replaced the sensor on a couple of '98s without problem, plugged right in.
I'd suspect they gave him the wrong part.

after doing a little researhing on the net i started looking on rockauto.com. the sensor that is in his rearend looks like the ones that is needed for the 94-97 rearends. the sensor that i got is just like the one used on my 99, i looked tonight. the only thing that i can figure is that someone might have put older rearend under the truck at one time.

I looked the part up on Chysler Star Parts and they gave you the right part number. Also that number fits 98 only.
