hi-idle screw

I am new to the p-7100 pump but will backing out the hi-idle screw allow for more usable rpm,s or do you have to put in the 3000 rpm gov spring to get more?

not sure if you are talking about the truck in your signiture, but if you are and the pump is the one that came stock in the truck.. You have a VE pump and will likely be installing the 3200 spring.. What I do is, adjust it while roating the throttle linkage to get full travel.. you will be able to tell while rotating it.. Good luck.. Also, you can move the thottle linkage arm over to the inside hole.. That helps too.. The real smart guys will chime in later!!

I have this motor in a 96 motorhome with the p-7100 pump. Csn i get just a little more rpm,s just by backing out the hi-idle screw and then checking for full travel?

GSK would be the ticket... The change of the high idle stop may only get you a small change.

You might gain a couple hundred rpm but the governor will still kick in and the extra rpm will have no power.

How difficult is it to put the 3000 rpm spring in the p-7100 pump? Is it more difficult than putting one in the 1st gen ve pump?

Not difficult to install a GSK. About the same challenge as a VE pump. Just requires some mechanical aptitude and common sense.

The high idle screw is better used after a GSK. You can tighten down the top rpm. A 3k (3,000) is better for your motorhome pump.

What transmission do you have in the MH?

The motorhome has the 542 allison 4-speed and no lock-up. Thats why i need more rpm,s plus the stock convertor in these are pretty sloppy. How is the high idle screw better used after the gov spring?

The 3k GSK will give you fueling out to around 3,000 rpm, but you can still get 3,200-3,600 rpm from the engine before the governor limits. High rpm really pushes the limit of a stock turbo.
You can use the fast or high idle stop to keep your governor speed down to around 3,000

if you can afford it put a lock up conv and some sort of od in that thing

not only will it pay for itself in the long run but you will love driving it in the meantime
