Bought the truck w/ the transmission out of it.
Rebuild the transmission got the Torque Convertor cut in half to check the clutch lining and internals @ a local convertor shop.
Replaced the hub (as it was broke off).
Got everything back up in and took it for a test drive and wouldn't shift out of first gear.
So first thought was Valvebody or govenor.. We had the valvebody completely tore down everyvalve out of it to clean it out...
But we decided to swap VBs to see if that was our problem (as it would shift out of 1st once in a blue moon).
Got the other VB up in, same thing.
Pulled the rearend off the back and here the govenor was stuck so replaced it..

Took it for another test spin, once it hit lock up, shudderd.. and there was the result of the internals of the torque..

Are those cracks in the case around where the pump bolts in?
I imagine the rest of the trans is all wiped out also, no?

Those "cracks" are pretty common casting flaws, I've seen a lot like that. He might have gotten lucky looking at the way that broke.

No.. The rest of the trans is not wiped out.
Just the input shaft/stator shaft
which I have a pile laying around =o)
