Small diesel leak
Tried looking thru the threads and couldn't find my problem. I have a small diesel leak from the left side of the engine on my 1996 Dodge Ram 2500. I changed the fuel lines and the filter a while back but seem to have a smell of diesel when the truck is shut off and I get out of the truck. It seems to be coming from a bolt on the bottom of the lift pump I think. At least I think that is the lift pump, kind of looks like a fuel pump on my old chevy's. I looked for a replacement pump and the view of these seems to be a piston pump rather than a bellows pump. So as my truck is original is it a diaphram or bellows pump and can the piston style pump on geno's garage and other sites replace what I have without a lot of re-working fuel lines?

Might be a leaky return hose on the back of the pump. Its a PITA to get at. I replaced all my lines with USCG-rated marine diesel fuel hose. I also spliced a sight glass into the line before the lift pump so I can see when theres an air leak in the line somewhere.

Small fuel leak
I replaced all the lines about 6 months ago and after the picture you posted of the left side it is the nut on the bottom of the fuel heater that is leaking. I will just remove it as I don't live where it is cold. "Hawaii" So thanks for the feedback, what is the fuel heater hooked to a water line? and just an in and out line to be joined together?

small fuel leak
So the nut on the bottom removes that bowl, or so it looks. Maybe can get an O-ring at the local Ace hardware to replace it. Here in Hawaii there is not too much available. Dodge dealer is 45 miles away and usually does not have what is needed so have to order. I do have a parts house near so maybe they have an assortment of O-rings as well.
Thanks for the responses.
