If you had 3k or 4k governor springs (GSK) installed then red would be the line and the plate would be very similar to a #4 profile
Without GSK then top of green is better so you don't go into the hard fueling until a little more (clutch saving) engine rpm

Well I change the position from the red line to the green line. That for sure is not right. So I must need to have the governor arm hit right at farthest point of the lower tip. Sound right???
Truck was running much better before I move the governor arm. And figures I did not check the stock location of the governor arm.....
Would the stock position hit a lot higher than my red mark???
My truck just has lost some of its pull. Or maybe it is just smoother through out the power ban and seems slower. Before it was slugish off the line and then came on hard..... Now it is smooth through out the rpm range in each gear with no signaficant pull...
So do you think the over fueling is what I am feeling? And that is causing the lack of power??? I guess just a small movement of the governor arm makes a huge difference in performance??? Also I put the star wheel all the way forward and drove it but did not like the James Bond smoke screen I was laying down. So I back it off. Maybe I backed it off to much. My loss of power seems to be in the higher RPMS.

The profile of most TST plates are not for hot rodding. They are designed to put peak hp into the rpm where it saves driveline components.
If you're looking for full power at all rpm then a #0 (flat) plate is what you need.
Low rpm equals low boost which means black smoke.
Basic lever position is near the bottom edge of a plate in stock location. If you slide any plate forward, there is a good chance the lever will dive under the profile.
If you like the performance at the redline position then leave it there.
Some basics on the P pump governor.
The governor lever moves up approx. 1/2 inch. from idle to defuel. Stock spring it rises quickly. 4k GSK it rises slower and allows higher rpm.

Re adjusted the governor arm today. Runs great. I put it right above the red line. Just at or slightly below the bottom nose of the plate. Truck has good pull through out the rpm range.
