Angry Shotty fuel delivery

I sure am tired of screwing around with this shotty fuel system on this truck. I just finished replacing the fuel lines tank to pump and it is still getting air in the lines. Has intermettant stumble at idle now too. Cant drive it (bed still proped up) to see if it still does all the other crap it did. I think the leak may be at the hose fittings on top of the module. Some body has put epoxy all over them . So now do it have to replace the fuel module or can i get a seperate part to replace the fittings??? Whens it going to end??

Since last January:
-Fuel lines
-Starter contacts
-KDP
-Axle seals
-Water leak
-Electrical short
-Front main seal
-Door rust
All of those were problems that got replaced as they happened, not preventative maint.

On top of:
-Clutch going south
-Ball joints replaced
-Brakes all new pads and hardware and turned
Those were preventative maint.

AFAIK the tank module is a complete unit to replace. The supply and return lines are metal and sometimes one can peel and buff epoxy loose.

If you're postive on air leak, have you done a pressure check on the system? Possible the lift pump is going bad and they can leak air when going out.

The tank module may be the air leak source, too.

Check the fuel heater. They leak air when going bad.

Check the steel fuel return line behind the pump. They often crack at the welded mounting tabs.

My repair list is much longer than yours. Some is the routine of a diesel, some is living in a salt bath environment, many are from doubling my horsepower.

So the epoxy is supposed to be on the fittings? Im pretty sure the leak is at the tank because its been wet under the module for a while. No way in heck am i going to sell this thing . The fact that its my dream truck keeps me from going too far. I just need to look at it as, what ever i fix, the truck will be that much better.

Sorry for the rant. It just seems that when i go to fix something on the truck it turns into a costly event. But, thats how it goes when fixing anything i guess.

I think this truck did come from a salty road area.

How much do the modules go for? Ive heard some healthy prices.

My front end needs help, body sucks cept for box, fixed fuel lines, kdp, steering wheel rewired headlight switch heater harness, rear brakes lock up, cab leaks water to drivers floor, blah blah blah but hey, This thing is the most awesome truck Ive owned! My first deisel, and Im lovin it!! 21 mpg, chicks dig my billy big rigger 4" striaght pipe ( my wife likes it too ). keep wrenching on it beats paying 600 bucks a month for a truck that doesnt really need anything!! Most truck payments can make a hellva lot of mods or even just plain fixin. my 2 cents

There shouldn't be epoxy on the hose fittings. Someone must have broken the clips that join the vinyl lines to the metal lines.

not sure if this will help but I have seen several of the tank units develop a crack in the pick up tube about half way up the tube truck runs great at full tank and crap below half.
If you are not sure if it is air put a piece of creal plastic line in place of the fuel line and watch for bubbles

I hear what your saying acdc and it makes sense, but my problem is uneffected by tank level. I think its an outside leak because my tank is wet with fuel under the module.

Another question. When sitting at the tank, looking at the module, i had someone pump the primer. As he was doing so, i could hear what sounded like air being pulled into the line from a pin hole or whatever. But, does the tank vent make noise also?
My plan for now is to reapply epoxy all over the fittings for a temp. repair untill i get ahold of a new module. Bad weather is approaching this evening and i would like to have my truck available.

Ugly top. I'd replace it ,too.

Instead of epoxy, which will obviously break, can you find butyl tape or manis(sp?) tape. They will seal the area, too.

Most of us call that fun!!!!!!! Gotta have a little challenge. Or you could go out and buy a new truck.
