return fuel line size or part#

I have a 1998 12v and I need the hose size or cummins part number for the rubber hose that is between the return line, I believe. The line goes from the where the overflow valve is located and towards the rear of the motor and is about 6 to 8 inches long. Can I just buy some diesel grade hose? Mine is leaking pretty good. Thanks Doug

USCG deisel rated hose from any marine parts seller is good. Supply is 3/8 and return is 5/16 on mine. Got my hose at Grey Marine and bypassed all the old using a banjo with a barb on it from Cummins.

You cab buy a kit with high quality hose and clamps for both the intake and return lines from www.fostertruck.com
If you want to make the job much easier and avoid future problems abandon the stock steel lines and run hose all the way from the engine to the tank.
Type of cab makes difference in the length you need, measure first.

It was the 6 inch long piece right after the overflow valve, the 5/16 was the one leaking. Well after installing and putting back together the truck wouldn't not start. Filled filter canister with diesel and still would not start. Finally got it to start. Is the primer button and lift pump one piece or do you have to buy seperatly? I could not get any fuel out of my main tank, switched to axuillary tank and was finally able to get something. Now I am going to look at my main tank. Any suggestions? Thanks Doug
