Replace water pump while tabbing the KDP?

Does it make sense to replace the water pump (No 2 in signature line) while I'm tabbing the KDP? I didn't replace the water pump when I tabbed the KDP on truck No 1. I've never had a problem with that truck's water pump.

How reliable/what's the longevity of these water pumps? How much to buy a new one?

Anyone? Thanks.

Since the water pump takes less than 15 minutes, and 2 bolts, to replace, I wouldn't bother until I actually needed it.

I'm trying to decide if I should replace the OIL pump while I'm doing the KDP. Any idea of the expected useful life span of an oil pump? I have about 265k on the truck.

the oil pumps very rarely go. you can pull it out and check the gap between the planetary/housing and rotor/planetary and planetary/back. also, look for scouring.

someone will post the specs.

the belt tension-er will go out eventually, long before the water pump. while you have the belt off, get a new one and if you happened to notice that the tension-er rattled or wasn't smooth running. replace that as well.

The water pump went out on my old truck at around 420,000 but I found out that it had been replaced. The frount seal blew out and lost almost all water in about 45 seconds. but the oil pump has over 500.000 miles on it and holds good pressure. I wouldnt mess with it.

I did my fan clutch when I did my KDP ...If your looking to spend some money some part that dose ware out the clutch of the fan will help with cooling in the summer .
Do your belts and hose's ... and a big thing to look at is your tranny lines if your an auto .
Both pumps are long lasting in most cases !

Okay, everyone's got me convinced to just tab the KDP and not replace anything else while I'm in there. On No 1 (in my sig) I just tabbed the KDP also. No problems yet with the water pump or tensioner.
