relocating fuel filter

I have a 94 with the vacume boosted brakes and as we all know its a pain to change the filter with out a mess. Can I unbolt the bracket that holds the filter assy. to the intake and move it to the frame rail below the driver seat or would this screw up the lift pump or something else. I need to change my fuel lines anyway so I thought this would be a good time to do this. The only thing I could think of was put some vavles before and after the lines so the fuel wont drain out when changing the filter.

Thanks
Wayne

I just removed and reassembled the fuel filter on my 98 and I was thinking the same thing...
I'd really like it to be an easier job, even though you don't have to do it very often it would make me happy...

Changing the fuel filter on the vacuum assist brake models is a breeze, no need to relocate it.
Remove the two nuts that hold the master cylinder to the booster and remove the large hose to the booster.
Even though it doesn't look like now the whole master unit with it's tubing will easily move towards the fender.
Gives you a ton of room to change the filter.

I did that today, well 3 times actually (sheeze) at least I didn't put the MC back together every time...

I just have a hard time holding the cylinder to get it back on, I can't hold it very well with my left hand --I keep dropping it (more diesel below)
I have a fuel hose in the way below the cannister that I didn't feel like moving right now, i'm up on my knees on the battery and the fuse box. bending over cause I can't reach in far enuf from top of the stepladder ..

OKOK enuf whining but thats why I wish I could make it just a little easier

If you go the vulcanperformace big line kit, you could get a Rocor filter and mount it on the framerail - would make changing filters a breeze.

There is also the Primeloc relocation kit which I believe is still available (although it is a bit pricey):

When I was making my wish list in Geno's garage, the PrimeLok was on it,
but now I want gauges inside, and $175 goes a long way towards gauges.

I'm sure I'll be changing my fuel filter before I get around to moving it, but if I get the vulcan big line kit, which is pretty appealing, it would be a good time to just take it a little farther and move the filter. I"m only going to get older...(yeah, thank goodness)

I was talking about bypassing the steel lines on the framerail with the Vulcan kit and installing a Racor filter down on the frame rail. I believe the Racor 4120 is the one to use (but I can check on that or someone else will chime in).

Like this - the 4120:

Yeah, I was looking at something different on the Vulcan site than you meant...
The Racor setup looks good, I'm not sure I get what the Vulcan big line 12v set is all about..the 12v kit had no pics...I'll take a closer look later

I read post about taking the master cyl. off but that seams like a problem waiting to happen especially with the east coast rust and replacing lines already. I just would like to relocate the original unit so I can use the parts store filters that are easy to get anywhere if needed and its cheaper overall, basically just hoses and clamps as well as extending the sensor wires.

Thanks
