RECALLS on 1998 Models and around then
Hey folks, as many of you know there was a recall on the throttle linkage on some `96 thru part of `98 12v models. I went ahead and had my wife take my `98 to the dealer for the linkage recall. Done, not a problem. Low and behold and I found out that there is a second recall and you may not have received this in the mail. I certainly did not. On many of these trucks, at least in `98 they left out a part that was suppose to have been installed from the factory. It is some type of fuel heater. You can check for yourself rather easily. Pop open your fuse box under the hood. If you are missing a fuse in the first holder and you canlook under the cover and see it is marked to be a 40 amp fuse and it says something like block heater or fuel heater. (hey, it is cool out and it is late, so I will have to verify the name tomorrow) If you do have a fuse there.Pull it and make sure both terminals are there to plug it into. If this is missing, you have one of those trucks. It is suppose to help the truck start and run better in the colder weather. Don't know, because mine is missing. DOH! Once they get the parts in, they will install it free of charge. Suppose to take about 1hr. to complete. I hope this is valuable to some of you. See ya!
