Local shop told me that it would be one hour to check timing and another 4 to adjust the timing? Told me that 12 valves are lot more complicated than a 24 valves? Is there any truth to the 4 hour labor to adjust the timing on a 94 12 valve?

most shops I seen charge $200 for timing. Dont know what that breaks down to hourly. If they think they can time a 24 valve, id probably find another shop.

I agree, that statment makes their knowledge seem questionable. Timing a 24v is easy, just plug the box in.

 

i charge 100 bucks for it,and sometimes it is not enough. if you just want the timing stock, that is simple enough to pin it up. but when you start getting into 18 plus it's a pain because a lot of the time the pump wants to jump when you pop the gear off.
