Pre GSK numbers?

My truck runs fairly well, for what I would assume is stock. It will gov. out around 3k. I was wondering, maybe this truck has the springs in it already. I bought it from an old guy, so I really didnt figure it had them installed. What kind of numbers have you all seen before the kit? I havent bomb'd any of the trucks I've had before now, I just drove'em.

Mine would hit around 2800 before the kit but anything past 2400 it would start to lay down. I just went to a 4K Kit, it pulls quickly to 3200 or so and slowly falls off after that. There is no power up at 4000 but now you get fuel until the motor itself is done.

John

If I were crazy enough to lay a brick on the go pedal, the most revs I would see are 2700. Need to get my GSK installed soon. Tony

Re:Pre GSK numbers?

dojman, is it an auto or manual? with the gsk my 1-2 shift went from 2800rpms to 3000rms with the gsk. however, i have easily hit 3500 rpms in neutral whereas i could only hit 3100 with stock springs. the top end power is amazingly different. i would say that you have stock springs if you have a manual.

if it's an auto, hold it to the floor in 3rd. with 3.54s i'd be VERY hard pressed to hit 65mph. now she pulls easily right past 70mph (of course, egts get real high with that much rpm and fuel).

Bulthis,

I thought that is how it was supposed to act. I have a #11 full foward but I was thinking of going up to a bigger plate then bigger injectors next. What plate do you recommend? I think I am getting enough fuel since I get plenty of black smoke out the tailpipe and my EGT's gauge will bury itself (thinking too much fuel?) in just a couple of seconds from a dead stop if I don't back off the pedal some. It needs to to be timed pretty badly so that's next, then we'll see how it acts.

Thanks.

John

Yes, it is a 5spd. The rpm's were pulling, not in neutral. Sounds like it is stock. I havent rode in a bombed truck, so I dont know what they're like. This truck runs better than any of the others I've owned. Our other truck(sig)comes as close as any, maybe as good, on a given day.

I dont what springs it has, but if I floor it in 3rd I can get up to about 75 MPH. The rpms are at about 3100 - 3200 and seems like they would go just a little higher if i let them. From everything i have read, I think i have spring upgrades but i dont know 100%. I like to think I do.

Re:Pre GSK numbers?

bigbad, i doubt it. you should be able to pull fairly easy to 3500 if you had your foot to the floor with the 3,000gsk
