Please verify method for drop valve method to find Top Dead Center

OK, I have read numerous posts that give good detail but I think this will definitively set the method. If it can be a sticky how-to, that would be great! Hopefully, I havent messed it up! Please let me know if something needs reworded to be clearer.

  1. Get the engine to compression stroke (both exhaust and intake valves closed) on #1, but before the estimated TDC,
  2. position a dial indicator on exhaust valve spring after removing all lash,
  3. tighten exhaust valve to .100 past zero lash,
  4. bar engine CW EASY till stops on exhaust valve and shows .002-.003 deflection,
  5. mark dampner clearly near reference point such as sensor,
  6. back exhaust valve lash off to zero or more,
  7. bar engine CW past estimated TDC,
  8. tighten exhaust valve to .100 past zero lash again,
  9. bar engine CCW EASY till stops on exhaust valve and shows same deflection as before .002-.003,
  10. mark dampner clearly at the same reference point,
  11. back off and reset exhaust valve lash to specs,
  12. mark dampner exactly between two previous marks = TDC,
  13. bar engine CCW well past TDC and then back CW to the new TDC mark to remove any gear lash

Looks fine. Easy way of finding rough TDC on #1 is watching for valve overlap on #6.

Hes done enough to be able to do it blindfolded. Last time I saw him do it, was like 5 minutes. Took longer to shake the paint marker.
