Performance VB on NEW factory tranny and TC.
Performance VB on NEW factory tranny and TC.
Hi folks. This is my first post here, so thanks for having me!
Here is my situation I have a 96 Cummins.
Automatic 47RH.
Im having the transmission(TC and all) replaced for free b/c of Mopar warranty with all factory pieces.
I want this one to last.
After I get the truck back, I am going to install a performance VB in it.
For a truck that will NEVER have any mods beyond a "0" fuel plate
(approx: 225HP), will JUST A VALVE BODY(no converter) help hold it together? I simply cannot afford the additional $650 and labor, for a converter...
Please advise!

If I could only do one mod to the tranny, I'd let it be the VB. A number 0 plate is pretty aggressive for any stock tranny though. I believe you will have way more than 225 hp. Correct me if I'm wrong. But I gotta tell you, if you can, dish out the cash for a torque converter now and have the dealer install it while they're at it (saves you labor costs). Then take the one they give you and sell it. It's brand new. That is, if they'll do that.
