pennzoil

I know this is not the place to put this but here goes. Any one using Pennzoil in their vehicle. I just purchased a used 2010 Dodge Journey with 17K miles and it seems that they use pennzoil in their engines. It had always been changed at the dealer but I do my own. I never was a big fan of this oil but for warrenty purposes may have to use it. I want to use a synblend but can't find it locally. (Pennzoil Gold). I can get the full syn. According to the info I got it needs to be ms-6395, Change S. Ilsac GF-5 I can also go with Castrol GTX synblend which also has the ms-6395 GF-5.

My uncle runs nothing but Penzoil, 98 1500 with 318. Has gone 170k so far with no problems, pretty clean under the valve covers. Not really same type of motor, no, but I don't think you can really go wrong with any oil these days as long as it's changed at the right time. I personally prefer Castrol blend, have run it in my 96 Dakota with 3.9l (again, not same type of motor!) but it has stopped burning oil in the last 30k after using it. Used to burn a quart (no leaks) every 1500, now it doesn't burn more than 1/4 quart in 4k miles. Maybe coincidence, but it runs good starts right up and gets good mileage now.

I used castrol for years. good oil. All these ratings changed for 2010 from GF-4 to GF-5 and you know how the company's can be. Do it their way or they will drop you like a rock. Pennzoil was the first to have this rating. I can't find the pennzoil gold which is a synblend. 2 wally worlds and about 10 parts houses close to where I live and none has it. They have the full syn. I went to the Penns site and they either recommend the regular or the full syn. 10w30. Thats whats on the oil cap 10W30 Thanks for the reply.

Just make sure you use GF-5 oil rated for diesel engines then the name brands are very similar in quality.
Diesel engine oil is designed to hold soot in suspension, gasser oil isn't.
If you use gasser oil in a diesel the soot will turn into sludge deposits instead of black oil.

This is a 3.5 v6 gas burner. I should have said that to start with my mistake.
