Panel\cover on drivers side of block.

There is some kind of panel or cover on the drivers side of theblock, and it seems to be bending away from the block. I have no idea what this panel is for, or why it has seperated from the block. it is not leaking anything. I am just curious as to what the deal is. standing by the front drivers tire and looking at the engine, the top left corner is what has lost contact with the enging. it looks like this panel is bolted on. what is it? and why is it bending, warping, or pulling away from the block????

It's the tappet cover ... and has sound deading insulation over it .. that is waht you see "bending" away ..

1. Whats a Tappet?

2. Is this cover for insulation purposes only?

3. Will it being "bent" out hurt anything other than its sound deadening (sp?) abilities?

But if it ever does start leaking you have to pull the injection pump to pull and reseal it. That is why there is a regulator in the KDP kit - to keep the positive air pressure from blowing that gasket when pressurizing the crankcase to keep drilling/tapping chips from getting into the crankcase.

But I think one of those times was just an excuse to put that Piers Pump in there
