p7100 help
95 12v cranks but wont start, the last time I drove it ,started/ran fine just like always does. I loosened inlet fuel line at p-pump and depressed manual pump on lift pump several times, there is plenty of fuel coming out of inlet line. I then loosened injector fuel line on top of p-pump and cranked engine with the starter, no fuel coming out of p-pump. Could the fuel cutoff solenoid/switch be bad or is the p-pump shot? any advice is appreciated

Welcome to the DTR!
I think you are on the right track with the shutdown solenoid not engaging properly. Your first check to eliminate the fuel pump is to turn the key to power on and go to the injector pump and pull up the shutdown solenoid manually. IT should go up and snap into place. If not there is a problem with the hold circuit on the solenoid.
If it doesn't pull up the solenoid when you crank the starter, there is a problem with the pull circuit.
Infidel posted a good picture of the circuit diagram for the system that would help you determine if the problem is with the relay for the solenoid to hold, the blue fuseable link from the battery for the pull circuit or the contacts in the starter solenoid that triggers it. I am trying to find it as it was recently.

Here is Joe G's write up on the system. Good explanation of most every thing that can make it mess up...

Lil Dog, you were right on the money, I turned key on, shutoff lever was down, I pulled it up and it snapped into place, engine fired right up. Turned engine off then back on, shutoff lever stayed down again, so it must be the pull circuit.
Carl I read the link you posted, said the blue wire was most often the prob, looked good but when I pulled it fell right off, reconnected and now the enegine starts every time. Thanks guys for the Good advice.

Wow, glad you got that figured out that fast. I need to make a library of links for these types of things as its a common question and not hard to diagnose.

With some of the most common problems, I've wondered about the utility of making up a diagnostic flow chart. Something like : "Hey, my truck won't start or cranks a long time", then "Is it spinning over, yes or no?" etc.

That is an awesome idea for troubleshooting.. Glad you volunteered!
