a buddies pump is leaking profusely, but in his words, "it works good", he pulled on to my driveway, with 10 acres of other dirt parking options, and left a sizeable pond, that would scare hazmat, how are these seals installed, from the arm outside(removeable) or the inside(not removable) or is it an o-ring, where the shaft has to be removed, if the pump has to be removed, is it possible to just change the seal, or do i need to break it down, what else would i need to focus on with it apart, joe.

 

I really don't think the shutoff solenoid leaks motor oil.

Are you sure thats what is leaking?

Did he leave the allen plug off when adjusting his starwheel or loose the washer for it?

 

looking at the side, below the solenoid, the linkage arm goes into the pump, its that seal, the fuel plate cover is above the area, and im wondering if it allows any access, im understanding, the f.p. area is fuel, the lower area at the seal is oil pressure thanks for the reply, joe

 

Thats not the solenoid , also telling us what he has helps , the better question/info , the more quantity & quality of answers .
We have to read into your question to assume what he has , a 12v and the shut off linkage ?
I haven't been into that part , so can not tell ya , but wanted to see what was happing , then after reading wanted help get you some answers , I suspect that some read the lack of info and just pass by .

 

Im thinking its the two bolts that hold the afc down and the solenoid on are stripped or might even be missing. or there just not tight. if there not tight it will eak a lot of oil. Make sure there tight but DO NOT over tighten them. They strip easy.

 

My afc housing became loose on my 12v and leaked oil sumthing terrible. Gave the underside some rustproofing

 

under the afc housing theres a rubber seal, over time they get flaten out and will not seal ,i just replaced mine it cost me more for shipping than the seal ,,, its a flat sqaure cut seal .any pump shop should have those seals that rebuilds p-pumps
