Question Overdrive lockout

Hello 1995 dodge ram 2500 4x4 12 valve #8 fuel plate catback exhaust bd torque convertor and valve body gauges

All of a sudden twice in the last 2 months i will be driving along in overdrive and the overdrive lockout will engage on its own push it in and all is fine again. Anybody ever have this happen.

It's happened to me about ten times in the last 15 years.
If it ever starts happening more often then I might figure it out.
Probably just a computer hiccup.

Bill, is this a symptom of the TPS getting old or dirty?

No, it's almost like a ghost pushes the OD off button.
The light even comes on.

Yup seen it several times too- thought it was a connection, could also be the switch I was told. Changed the Switch last summer, ESS just changed so that covers the ECM shutting off and resetting....
How's the tranny temp?? If too hot it will lock out OD to boost fluid flow.

I just went through same symptoms, cruising at 75, tranny slams into drive. Changed the TPS, that didn't work. Turned out to be tranny sensor sending false reading. Apparently if it thinks the tranny is at a low temp, it will jerk it out of overdrive.
