just a gasket, you could use some of that grey cummins silicone for the leak.

theal for the vaccum pump was only 4.35 so i ordered it, about the sme as silicone, so i figured might as well do it right.

yeah its alot easier too and cleaner. for the 5.9's in the Ag. tractors the parts book dont show a gasket they show a tube of the silicone but all they have there is a cover plate so i guess thats why.

Hope it is the vac pump gasket. If there is oil above it then it is the gear case gasket. If you have to replace it think about a new cam, since it has to be pulled to replace the gasket. Yes, I do have a PDR cam. One other thing. The vac/pwr steer pump assy is supported by an L bracket. At the top of the engine mounted bracket that the L bracket goes to is a bolt that supports the injector pump. Mine was missing, and my theory is the wt of the pump warped the gear case enough to allow oil to leak.

I just replaced mine two weeks ago. I'm pretty slow and it took about 5 hrs. If I was more talented it could have been done in three. As a tip, remove the oil line after unbolting the vacuum pump and reattach it before bolting the vacuum pump back in.
