Check you breather vent for blockage. Its on the drivers side about the middle of the engine. Its a vent tube that points down and ends about even with the bottom of the oil pan. If you are in a cool weather climate you should see a little steam venting from it if you look under the truck. If that is not pluged then it sounds like you might have exesive blow by. I do not remember what the aceptable mount is but Im sure Infidel or one of the other inmates will know. Or you could make a search of this forum and Im sure it will be found. You will need a monometer to check it. Give us more info on your truck. Like milage , year , is it stock , ect.

If your vent tube is not plugged, you have too much blow-by. Or a hole in a piston....

Think that's enough to puke oil? That oil's got a long way to go..... take a lot of force....

save it, pretty soon you'll have enough for an oil change
on the other hand, it could be your turbo..do a search on the subject

It was enough to do it on my truck.
Every time I popped the hood the dipstick was sticking about an inch out and the there was an oily mess till I replaced the o-ring.

Its definatly worth the $.15 to find out if that all it is. I know there is a fair amount of pressure in there. If it run good and starts good in the cold I doubt the rings or pistons are bad.

Interesting.... I learn something new every day. I guess I figured with that nice big vent tube there'd be next to zero crank case pressure at any given time....

huh, first iv herd of a 6bt with this issue but my dipstick also works itself out about a inch. hmm- brings back bad bad memories of my old VW diesel with blow by causeing ALL of the oil to be blown out the dipstick. VW limits the ammount of PCV to reduce runaway, only a pea sized hole in the valve cover vent- I drilled the hole larger so I could at least drive it and it did try to run away when really hot! Ran off the blow by so well I had cruse control on hot days! Rebuilt it was I was tired of dumping the clutch in 4th to shut it off on 90F days

I had a guy with a 89 cummins driving for me had oil pukeing out the dipstick. 1/3 of a piston was welded to the head when he over heated the truck pulling a hill. He drove it from oregon back to texas and pulled the head and thats what he found.
