Replacement Oil Dip stick?

Ok I broke my handle on my engine oil dipstick when I was replacing the lift pump. Went to local Dodge dealer, ordered one in, it is too short and the marks are way off. Parts man said "you may have to shorten your oil tube for this to work!" I didn't tell him what I really thought of his idea, but continued to push him to find the right one. THey even looked it up by using the VIN and it gave them a different part number which was in stock, but still wasn't right. ANy ideas as to where to look next?? thanks.

I would think you could pull the handle off the new one and put it on the old one, if the metal part of the dipstick is still sound. I know I got a replacement handle for my dipstick, a billet aluminum one, and it was just the handle. I haven't actually installed it yet, as I am lazy and busy with bigger things.
Otherwise, check this out to see if it helps:

It appears to be a Cummins part, so youo might check there.

Usually the handles are held in place by metal pins...perhaps you can drive those pins out and swap handles...clearly that dealer is not going to get you the correct part.
Good Luck!

Hey Stamey, where did you find the billet one? I wouldn't mind having an excuse to add some shine under the hood.

From Bob Wagner, on here as "Bob Wagner". He does all kinds of aluminum parts for the underhood area of the Rams/Cummins.
