NV4500 ?'s - Bucking in 4th and 5th....

Here is the symptom:

While in 4th or 5th (more pronounced in 5th) if I let off the throttle quickly the truck will kind of "jerk" then when I apply the throttle, hard, it will "jerk" again...

Same goes for 5th...

But here are some other things...

If I'm cruising and let off in 5th, it will not jerk as much and I can get back on the throttle with minimal jerk...

But if I'm using cruise control and let off with the brake or clutch it will jerk...

Can't say its bad...

Normal?

cruise control is designed for a stock truck... when you start feeding a lot more fuel per throttle input, it's pretty jerky

What forrest said is actually true

when i started to mod my truck, the cruise control started to get funky. If your truck is bucking and it is a 12 valve id say that you might wanna look at your return springs as well, you can do a cheap fix and tighten the one you have by using wire and gettin one of the coils...

Just an idea..

It makes no difference,

stock truck or not, throttle return springs can give and will cause ur surging. Just sharing my experience with u.. My truck had it severely, and it turned out to be delivery valves, injectors and governer springs too tight as well as bad throttle return springs. I rigged mine up the same way as above (tightwad fix for now) and backed off my governer springs, and changed my delivery valves back to stock ones, and no issues with surge anymore..

Guys; I think he is talking about gear slop in the transmission. Mine is the same way, of course I don't usually let off with the clutch engaged while in fourth. I fifth it is pretty severe if I let off the accelerator fast. Some have attributed it to being worse with a limited slip diff. I for one hope that it is not a bad sign as mine has done it since I got it three years ago.

Hope this helps.

P.S. please over look any spelling errors as the spellcheck is not here(wife).

good point... I always let out easy... and if I've got the cruise on and I need to cancel it, I put my foot on the throttle, cancel it, and then ease out w/ my foot
