NV4500 leak on side plate
NV4500 leak on side plate
I have a leak around the rectangle side plate on my NV4500... I went to the parts stores and they all said they couldn't get these gaskets in.... so I ask where can I get them or can I get by using the gasket maker RV sealant? And while I'm on this topic I read the threads about trying to get the Castrol Syntorq and trying to find it was just as hard as they had stated.... so I figured it would be just as easy to switch over to Amsoil or something of that nature at this point... can anyone point me to the correct amsoil or oil I could put in... thanks alot
That is a power takeoff opening. Any business that has truck parts or truck driveline parts will have it in several thicknesses. I don't think I would go with sylicone on that one.
There is no gaskets on there originally. The factory uses black RTV, so we use back RTV here in the shop too.
You can also get the Syntorq from your local Chevrolet dealer. Amsoil 75/90 is okay to use as well as Redline.

Use black RTV. No probs here. Advanced Auto parts can get the castrol. The oil number changed here recrently. My guy said he could get an additive to put in it to.

Some folks buy drums of Syntorq and rebottle it for cheaper than the dealer like this one, bottom of page.
