No overdrive always means TPS?

Truck= 94 1 ton 47rh
I have read and read other posts and it seems thats the verdict. The deal is I changed the fluid and filter the day after I bought it last week and the overdrive quits. I noticed when I bought the truck that the overdrive button was not lit up so I don't think the button works either. I have an 03 and 5 speed and don't know about the 47rh yet! Thanks for any help. Aaron

No it doesn't , it could be a few things , one it could be is the brake switch , it shuts off the cruse , when you touch the brake peddle .
On my 94 the light come on when the OD shuts off , its happened a few times , hit the sw. , light goes off & OD shifts again .
There are other things that can keep your OD from staying in , its just a matter of good diagnostics / trouble shooting to find out which .
You can use a meter to see if there are any glitches in the TPS .

Causes can be an internal mechanical problem, TPS, PCM, brake switch, tranny temp sensor or the wiring inbetween any of them. (and probably something I'm forgetting)
Good tranny shop can hook your truck up to a laptop, take it for a drive and find out exactly what's the problem.
Might be easier than trying to figure it out yourself.

TPS is probably the most common and a good place to start.

thanks so much for the replies. I replaced the brake liight switch the first day I bought it and actually the cruise worked with the brake light switch bad. Also, the cruise still works now. I will have to take it to someone cause I don't know much about auto's but I would love to use the truck really soon. Thanks to all.
