no fuel from injector lines

hey all i got a slight problem with my truck. i pulled air into the pick-up lines in the fuel tank and now i cant get it started. Ive pressurized the tank to push the fuel up to the injection pump. the fuel will come out the bango fitting that supplies the injection pump, from there ill crack 3 of the injector lines and turn it over for about 30 sec. After all of that not a drop of fuel will come out and she doesn't try to fire. Any ideas. thanks

Do you have fuel coming out of the return line from the pump? If you've cranked it lots, the pump should be full, but to just to be sure, pump the priming button on the lift pump, you should hear a squeal from the OFV. If no squeal, you're still pushing air.

Once you have fuel out the return, make sure your solenoid is pulling up. Pull it up manually with the key on, or remove it entirely if you have to.

Thanks. I'll give that a shot. I did crack the return line on the pump and fuel did come out. But I am not hearing a squeak from the lift lever. Also I did check the shut off. It seems to be working fine.

hey Tate, i followed your advice and i was unable to get it started. i pumped the lever a bunch of times to where i thought i broke my thumb nothing seams to help. the squeek i did hear from the lever however my question is, is there a weep hole under the rubber piece where the button is because it seams to leak diesel after i pump it. thanks

Hi Badley,

Did you crack the overflow valve a hair. I had this happen, I ended up removing the filter, filling it up ( but before refitting the filter check that the pump is pumping with the prim leaver) with clean diesel, refitting and priming, then cracked the overflow /return valve a tat and cranked, once she tries to start or does tighten the valve up.

Cheers

I Assuming you are referring to the prime button on the lift pump. If its leaking, I would replace it, They are not expensive, I paid $60 bucks for a new one, its harder to remove the starter than the pump. Takes about 1 hour…..
Your truck is the same year as mine, 15 years is a long time for a pump :-)

ya i think thats the culprit. i tuck the filter can off (which was full of diesel) and pumped the lever with no avail, i don't think a drop of fuel came out of the supply line. Any other ideas?

Skip the primer button and pressurize the tank, 5 psi max, to expel air free fuel from a cracked opened overflow valve.
Loosen the front three injector lines at the injector and crank the engine till fuel appears, tighten and it should start.

There is a possibility that you are sucking in air from the feed line inside the tank, they crack with age?
