Newbie Auto Trans questions

Thanks in advance for the help..I'm a Ford Guy wanting to but a 4bt in my Bronco..I want a Automatic overdrive...Were any of the autos from behind the 5.9's overdrive without electronic controls? If so what years were they offered ? What is the model # or series? Also does the transfer case "drop" to the driver or passenger side? What are the ratios in the automatic and what are the ratios in the transfer case?

Your help is appreciated!

Rob

I may be totally wrong on this, but I believe the autos in the 94 and newer all have electronic controls, and the 93 and older may not, but the 93 and back may not have overdrive, not sure there either. another idea for you is, I believe the 4bt came in some of the older GMC/Chevy delivery vans and have the Turbo400 in them, might be easier and cheeper to look into that, I know the Turbo400's are cheeper to build and get parts for atleast.

Hope this helps...Josh

Heres a quick breakdown of the dodge autos.

A727 - 3 speed, hydraulic controlled, no overdrive, no lockup 89 to ealy 91
A518 - 4 speed, hydraulic controlled, electric overdrive, no lockup, 91.5 to 93
47RH - 4 speed, hydraulic controlled, electric overdrive and lockup, 94-95
47RE - 4 speed, Electronic controlled, 96-02

You can run an A518 with a switch to operate the overdrive, the 47RH can be done with 2 switches. 47RE is a different animal.

1st 2.45:1
2nd 1.45:1
3rd, 1.00:1
4th .69:1
Reverse 2.21:1

NP205 T-case from 89 to 93 is pass. drop,
T cases from 94 and up are driver drop.

Like NMCTD said, you can use a TH400 out of a tator chip truck too, but that doesn't have overdrive.
