New PS Pump/Steerbox - Fluid keeps foaming Why?

I put a new PS pump, new lines, and new steering box on my 94.

I also added an inline filter on the return line to the ps pump, the instructions said warranty required one. Oriely's gave me a magnet type one that goes with it.

I've jacked it up, turned wheels from side to side while running 2 dozen or more times, let sit overnight, then again, and it still foams up. Fluid level checks ok each time. Steering is not the best still, tad tight.

Is this inline filter causing foam? Or is there still air in the system?

Thanks

You would think all the air would be out of the system by now. I don't think the PS system would get enough suction to go into vacuum would it? Maybe its the fluid?

I'll keep working with it. I may end up pulling the return line to see if I can suck the air out or something. I'm hoping this inline filter flows enough.

Another ?, the steerbox had a small trace of ATF fluid in it, so now the Steering fluid is pink in color, I added 1 qt+ of clear steering fluid already, before the fluid was always clear.

Will ATF mixed in ruin this new ps pump?

Also does anyone else run a PS inline filter with any success?

Everyone runs a filter, it's inside the pump in the plug removed in the picture.
Seemed sort of needless that they would require an inline.

To get it going right I went ahead and pulled the return line, used a 'topside oil vaccum changer' to suck all the air and some of that pink atf fluid from that line, so now its all clear ps fluid.

I had to end up taking off the in line magnet filter. I think its to restrictive, and inhibits flow, as the ps pump semi whines a bit.

When I removed the ps filter, the whine went away, hmm...

Bill that screen is great, but doesn't stock the fine stuff like the inline would.

Anyways no more foam, it was trapped air I guess, and it runs great now.
