New Mods, High Egt's, What now?

I just put in an almost #0 fuel plate and also installed a weaker afc spring for the 215 pump.Running empty I have no problen getting egt's above 1400 at high rpm's with stock 3'' exaust pipe. Will the 4 or 5 in. exaust help to get then down.I also noticed that the power is a little slow to kick in but when it does hold on. Is that common also. I have a heavy trailer that I used to pull up the mt. at 25mph in second gear WOT and with the new plate I can do it at almost 60 in 4th gear. My only limit for speed was the 1250 degree egt at 60 mph, still had more power but egt's were getting too high. Any one have any more suggestions for lower egt's and less smoke too.

Hey I don't post very often but I would recommend a larger exhaust for starters it won't make a huge difference but it will help and also if you are serious about getting even lower try a water methanol injection system it will cool your intake and combustion to a degree and really won't hurt anything. there is a company called snow performance that makes a good kit with a decent warranty and thier website has a very comprehensive description of how the system works and the additional 70-100 HP you will gain as well as cooler temperatures. I have been running the kit on my 07 5.9 and it makes a large difference when I am towing. Hope thats some help, and off the top of my head I think the kit is around five hundred bucks not too badly priced for the results.

A 0 plate in a 215 pump is gonna get pretty toasty. A bigger exhaust will surely help.

The exhaust will help some, but if you have the stock turbo, a larger one will help alot. Your probably just pumping hot air now.

I had the high egt problem (1,850*) worth of problems driving on the street at WOT. I had a 64/14 phat shaft in stalled (08/08/07), STILL have the same problem. Before the turbo, I drove at 800-825* at 75 mph empty, and 1050*-1100* with work trailer. Now I run 850*-900* at 75 mph empty and 1150* with trailer. Went sled pullin this weekend, at the 150 ft mark the pyro alarm went off at 1370*, at the 250 ft mark where I stopped, it peaked at 1836* STILL. I cant control egt's at all. Done everything I can think of. Any suggestions?

Advance your timing to about 17*. That will help more than anything at this point. An exhaust might help a little, but not as much as timing will.

You also need to advance your timing more if your head gasket will handle it. We went from 20* to 25* on my cousins 97 12 valve that he pulls. It used to glow about an 8 inch flame out of the exhaust pulling, and now it doesent do that anymore, and the pyro climbs a lot slower even though he can still peg the pyro at 1600* with a 68mm turbo with no problem

My timing is at 16* now, had it moved when the turbo was put in, was at stock before, still the same results then and now. I dont know if I want to go any higher cause I still have to use the truck as a daily driver. If I go to a smaller injector will that help any? that is the next thing I was gonna do even though I will lose power. Thinking of a 275 or 330 marine.

What kind of delivery valves do you have, and what is your boost like?
