New Luk 05-902 clutch install

I am in the process of installing a new Luk clutch 05-902, I was not planning but decided to remove my flywheel and get it resurfaced. I cannot get the 18MM bolts to budge, any suggestions? The new clutch came with two bushings and a roller bearing, after readings a lot of posts I am going with the roller bearing. Also can I change the rear main seal once I have the flywheel off? And does anyone have the Cummins part number? I am also installing a rebuilt Standard Transmission NV4500, and the previous owner used Amsoil 75-90 gear oil in it, is this what others are using? I am going to take off my old shaft and use it for an alignment tool, do you leave everything loose and install the shaft then tighen everything up? Thanks for your help. Doug

Impact wrench on the flexplate bolts, if not, a long breaker bar and use a big screwdriver on the ring gear to hold it still. Rear main seal looked to be a one piece on mine and should be changeable at that point, no part number sorry. No comment on the oil, but Amsoil should be fine. Clutch kit didn't come with and alignment tool??? Using the shaft will work fine, do it just like you said. Leave it all loose, install the shaft to line things up, and then tighten the bolts evenly in a "star" pattern.

I was reading other threads and they talked about taking bolts out threw the inspection plate on the passenger side, but I spun my flywheel around and around and could not find any. Is this just for automatic tranny or what?

OK then I will try and use a impact on the eight bolts holding the flywheel on. Thanks. Doug

If the rear main is dry, don't touch it.

Also - if you notice more noise in the cab (or a more distinct engine noise) please let me know.

Yes, do not mess with things that are not broke. Personally I would not turn flywheel unless necessary. Small imprefections and cracking (crowfooting) will not affect performance. Cleaning with a slow speed disc pad will do wonders on apperance. The other issue is resurfacing the flywheel sometimes causing chattering. JMHO

Oh no, I just had it resurfaced at a machine shop, it had a pretty good groove on the inner part circle where the disc rides. I will not touch the seal, I can tell why you do not say to touch it. Looks like a real pain to install a new one. Does it matter how I bolt the new flex plate on the fly wheel? In the book it says to scribe or mark if you are going to use the old one.

Its best to put it on in the same location, hence the scribing a mark before disassembly, but it should be neutral balance and not matter too much.
