Luk Clutch

Has anybody run the luk 13" clutch upgrade with the ceramicmetalic disc. They offer it as a performance upgrade on there web site. I know about SBC and I like them but wondering about the luk upgrade. There is also a bulletin on the disc that it engages right away and that the clutch may chatter.

The stock Dodge clutch is a LUK. A favorable upgrade is the LUK Pro Gold as it is better quality. I had good use out of the Pro Gold.

Everyone has opinions, you asked, here is mine on the ceramic disk. I would never let a ceramic disk get near a vehicle of mine. I have installed them in trucks and a couple of cars over the years and they will distroy the drive train. They chatter terribly. Older big trucks got away with them pretty good as the gearing was so low in first that it did not matter much, but in an installation where you have to slip the clutch any, they just don't work. They WILL NOT slip on engagement. And as in ceramic brakes, when the clutch gets warn, you need a new flywheel.

That is my opinion, but you may be willing to put up with the chatter and if so, go for it.

I used a ceramic clutch for a month and that was because it took me over 3 weeks to get my new clutch in. There is no doubt in my mind the ceramic clutch is why I ended up having to replace 2,3,4 and the cluster shaft in my transmission. IMO they ought to pay you to take a ceramic clutch. Pulling any weight it will chatter to the point you just dump the clutch and hope for the best because the chattering is tearing your truck to pieces. JMO that darn clutch cost me a small fortune and not to buy it.
