Need some help with fluids!
Hey guys
I have a 96 12 valve 4x4 5 speed. And I would like to change all the fluids.
so i have a couple of questions
1. What weight and kind of fluid do I need to put in the front dana 60 axle and the rear dana 80 axle?
2. What weight and kind of fluid should I put in the transfer case?
3. What weight and kind of fluid should I put in the Trans?
4. Are there any fuel filters that I should change? If so where are they?
If there isn't a fuel filter should Install one?
5. Do you guys have any tips or trick that I should know about before
I start this process?
I did a search and found several different answers for different years so I thought I would ask for my Specific truck.

For differentials I have been running Lucas 75w90 for I think about 70k, change it every 20 for rear and 30 for front. No friction modifier needed with Lucas, and my LSD still works pretty good at over 200k, so it is working for me.
You didn't mention power steering, coolant, or brake fluid. All should be considered if it hasn't been done in a while. Good luck.

One thing you only find in the factory service manual is the Dana spec for their differentials is 3/4" below the bottom of the fill plug in the front and 1/2" below in the rear.
Most of these differentials will eventually leak out the end seals if filled to to the bottom of the hole.
Syntorq (not Syntech!) or Amsoil MTG are the only fluids proven long term.
All other fluids will eventually eat the syncros.
For the best price on the expensive Castrol Syntorq used in the NV tranny give these guys a call.
$52 including shipping for 5 quarts> http://www.blumenthalmfg.com/
