my starter seems to have taken a break!
my starter seems to have given up the ghost...it was beginning to drag worse as time went on,i originally thought it was the really ugly battery terminals so every time i changed one it seemed better, well leaving work at lunch today it just barely started so i knew it was time.
i was on the forums checking out the amount of knosh it was to change...not bad 10mm,17mm and an 8mm wrench, and all the internet heroes said that the only way to get the top bolt was from the top...naw... not gonna happen,i can barely get my arms in to change the G.D.fuel filter let alone reach the starter...
it is possible top reach all the bolts from the bottom and if it wasn't for taking the negative battery terminals off i wouldn't even have to open the hood the change out was very straight forward and didn't take a degree in rocket science to do.
so to sum it up i will be doing an overhaul on the old starter, and there is rebuild kits available.just which ones are better Geno.s ,OEM,or ??? any ideas would be a help.thanks.

x5 on Foster Truck. I had an older solonoid, called them up and sent back the old solonoid and they sent the newer resin one, all no charge, and quick too. I was surprised how little contacts I had left, and how much larger the Foster contacts are. Great place to get the Fuel line in whatever length you want too.

Just replaced mine in the '98. You can do all the bolts from underneath the truck. Top one is difficult but doable. Long extension and 12 point 10mm. About 30 minute job.I have used a starter from DB Electrical on Fleabay for three different trucks. 100 bucks to your door. made in China, but better than 2 rebuilt ones I tried from Auto Zone and O'reilly's at twice the price. Truck starts now on the first rev. Just my 02 cents.
